The Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society, Inc and the Old Miners Association, Inc are excited to announce their first collaboration !  They  are working together to bring you the combined event,  1800’s Country Fair & Loggers Jubilee.  July 18 & 19, 2009.

This event will be hosted in the lovely little town of Fawnskin, California  at the historical Pedersen’s Mill.   The event will showcase the entire nineteenth century, including Victoriana, pioneers, the wild west, old miners, loggers, and the American civil war. Come prepared to encounter literary characters and authors, historical figures, shoot outs in the streets, arrests and judgments from the "hangin' judge." There will be period entertainment and games. The children's area will have games and crafts and contests befitting an 1800's Country Fair. The Loggers Jubilee we be open to the general public, but experience is needed. There will be trophies, cash prizes, and a saw given away!  There will be a children's area with games & crafts as well as FREE children's events in the main arena!

While not all visitors come in costume, a great many do. The site will be set up to cover both American Old West and English Victorian with vendors and entertainment of both as well (five Stages). Of course, the Loggers Jubilee events will be the foremost entertainment in the arena area with contests going on all day.

In addition, the opening of Saturday's event will be proceeded by the annual Fawnskin Doo Dah Parade.

Event hours are 11 am to 6 pm Saturday and 10am to 6pm Sunday.

The event will be a production of the Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society, Inc., a 501 © 3 non-profit, educational corporation, and the Old Miners Association, also a 501 © 3 corporation.

Lynda McGinnis C.E.O. and founder of the Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society, inc., chose to form a non-profit corporation to pursue her goals of providing educational funds directly to students and teachers.  To accomplish this, all profits outside of those to maintain the events are devoted to education.  Those of us working with Lynda share her dreams and goals of better education for student and teachers.

The purpose of the Old Miners' Association is to produce special events of general benefit to the Big Bear Valley. The principle activity of the Association is to produce the Old Miners' Days, focusing on the heritage of the community.

The Old Miners Association is celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, so there will be lots of surprise to be shared!

We hope you will be able to join us in this new and exciting collaboration.  We hope to create the kind of atmosphere that makes coming to our events a truly enjoyable experience that you anticipate year after year.  The site will be set up to cover both American Old West and English Victorian with vendors and entertainment of both as well!  Of course the Loggers Jubilee events will be the foremost entertainment in the arena area with contests going on all day.
