September 22nd 2007
This event is being co-hosted by Historical Outfitters & the Black Duck Buckskinners and is planned as an American timeline event of the 1800's. At the center of the event area you will meet Civil War soldiers from both the North and the South, as well as some civilians from that time period. As you continue your exploration of the territory, you will see Fur Traders from the 1800's who eat and live off the land. Members from the Fur Traders & the Civil War groups will answer questions and demonstrate what it was like to live in the 1800's.
The event planned for this year is only for one day but if it manages to be a great turn out then next year it will become a two day event with more demonstrations and grander shows. Even though this area had no actual battle, it is a great place to bring this type of event in order to bring some American history to the general public and to have fun demonstrating mock battles and bringing in entertainment and hands-on educational programs.
This event is in the first year of its development, several groups have come onboard to create this event but we will need more groups, merchants & food vendors from each time period and venue, plus volunteers, to make sure this event succeeds and will live on. If you or your group would like to participate in this event please contact one the producers listed below.
$1.00 Donation per Person going towards the Scotch Ridge Project.
$5.00 Donation per School Bus (best value) full of students brings down the cost per student so they can purchase food or other items at the event.
This is a great opportunity for your students to get some extra information about the past and some hands on studies.
All proceeds go to the Scotch Ridge Center Project and Future Historical Events. Yes even as a participant you can help by paying a small registration fee this helps to pay for things such as a place to go water your horse and I'm not talking about the horse you rode in on, also it pays for trash pick up and site care. The Center is ran as a non-profit and both Historical Outfitters & The Black Ducks whom are the host for this event earn no money from this for it is all volunteer based for improvement of the land and future activities, plus we just like to get together to have fun and teach the public about history, and it's just great to go and shoot off your gun every once in a while!
Also this registration fee helps to keep the cost down on admission prices for the public so that we will have a grand turn out to this event and this will help with the projects continuation next year.
